Living here in Paris, I am surrounded by amazing patisseries. Each one offering its own signature dessert or pastry.
I set out to find traditional and non traditional desserts native to France. I chose three places that reflect what French desserts mean to me. What makes me swoon and thank the dessert Gods that yes I live in Paris and of course had to pair it with three of my favorite sweet wines. The rule of thumb to any pairing is this, marry a dessert wine with the same sweetness or sweeter than your dessert. I also like to look at how heavy a dessert is. I like to match the consistency so to say. If I'm eating a light and fluffy dessert like a cream puff, I personally like to pair it with a sweeter champagne such as a Demi-Sec champagne.
